P&O ferries operate 5 passenger ferries running from Dover to Calais, 4 from Hull to Zeebrugge and Rotterdam, 1 from Portsmouth to Bilbao, and 3 from Larne to Cairnryan and Troon. Across all routes we expect to carry 12 million passengers during 2008. 80% of passenger carryings will be on the Dover to Calais route.

The ferries operate a 24/7 service 364 days of the year, only laying up for Christmas day.

  • Dover/Calais route – Pride of Dover, Pride of Calais, Pride of Kent, Pride of Canterbury, Pride of Burgundy. 1.5 hrs crossing, 24/7 operation
  • Hull/Rotterdam – Pride of Hull, Pride of Rotterdam. 12 hrs crossing (overnight)
  • Hull/Zeebrugge – Pride of Bruges, Pride of York
  • Portsmouth/Bilbao – Pride of Bilbao. 3 day round trip
  • Larne/Cairnryan – European Highlander, European Causeway 2hrs crossing, 24/7 operation
  • Larne/Troon – Express (fast craft) 2 hrs crossing, twice per day – summer ONLY

Catchment and footfall

Footfall: Approximately 1k customers per crossing, with up to 50 crossings per day (Dover/Calais route), 1.2k customers per crossing (overnight crossings from Hull to Europort and Zeebrugge), 15.k customers per round trip to Bilbao (three day round trip)

90% of passengers are British (Dover/Calais and Portsmouth/Bilbao routes) 80% UK passengers on North Sea routes, rest made up principally by German, Dutch, and Belgian mix.
