Lakeside Staff in 21 Good Deeds Pledge
Staff from Lakeside Shopping Centre have shown their support for local seafarers.
They spent a day down at Tilbury Docks putting together a new security shed at the Tilbury Seafarers Centre, which provides ship workers with a quiet place to rest.
The team were given time off from their usual routines to work on the project as part of the shopping centre’s ‘21 Good Deeds’ project, which celebrates Lakeside’s 21st birthday.
Kylie Minor, acting marketing manager, said: “The Seafarers Centre is funded entirely by voluntary contributions so we were delighted to lend a helping hand.”
Staff at Lakeside have made a pledge to carry out 21 Good Deeds throughout 2011 and have already helped redecorate offices and counselling rooms at St Luke’s Hospice.
The shopping centre will also be helping local good causes this year with donations of much-needed equipment including the brand new shed at the Tilbury Seafarers Centre.
Brandspace is the exclusive managing agent for Lakeside, which, with over 259 retail outlets, is one of the UK’s largest shopping centres.
