St David’s wins top BCSC award
St David’s in Cardiff won the supreme gold award at last night’s BCSC awards
The Cardiff centre, owned by Land Securities and Capital Shopping Centres, more than doubled in size last year to over a million sq ft with a major extension anchored by the largest John Lewis store outside London.
The design, by Benoy, was credited with “integrating into Cardiff’s established streetscape, creating iconic landmark buildings and new streetscapes with public spaces.”
Other winners of BCSC Gold awards were Bluewater in the income generation category; Costa Coffee in the shopfit category and Waitrose as retailer of the year. thecentrre:mk won best established centre and the Arc in Bury St Edmunds won best new small centre. Eldon Square and SouthGate Bath won gold in the best new large centre category alongside St David’s.
