Brandspace “captures” most UK int’l travellers with High Speed 1
Out of home (OOH) experiential media owner, Brandspace has extended its network of travel venues, thanks to a contract award from HS1 Ltd, the owners and operators of the UK’s only high speed railway, High Speed 1. Brandspace will now manage experiential & promotional space at High Speed 1 stations: Ebbsfleet International and Stratford International in addition to St Pancras International.
The announcement comes just days after the opening of Europe’s largest shopping centre, Westfield Stratford City, situated immediately adjacent to Stratford International and The Olympic Park. Stratford will be a focal point for visitors to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which is expected to welcome over 10 million visitors.
Speaking about the contract award, Brandspace’s Venue Development Director, Graeme Hay, commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract extension and widen the scope of our agreement with High Speed 1. Brandspace now manages experiential media in three of the UK’s four high speed international railway stations.
When you factor in our current estate across air and rail, the addition of Ebbsfleet and Stratford International stations gives our brand partners direct access to the largest concentration of international travellers in the UK. Particularly in light of next year, that represents unparalleled opportunities for brands to engage these consumers through experiential media.”
Wendy Spinks, Head of Revenue Generation, HS1 Ltd said: “We are very pleased to announce that Brandspace will now manage third party promotional activity in the Ebbsfleet International and Stratford International stations. Our partnership with Brandspace has helped distinguish St Pancras International as Europe’s first and only ‘Destination Station’. We are looking forward to developing similar opportunities at both Ebbsfleet and Stratford.”
The existing agreement between HS1 Ltd and Brandspace, signed in 2008, authorises exclusive management promotional and experiential activity in St Pancras International, and will run until 2014.
